Vintage Beer Ads

Ah, refreshing!
Sometimes, there's nothing better than sitting down with your mailman for a cold bottle of beer.
"Thanks for stopping by, Herb. I don't know what we would have done if you hadn't brought the beer" says Dick.
"No problem, Dick," Herb replies, "it's my job after all. And there's nothing I like better than having a cold one on the route."
"Gee, Herb... I didn't realize it was 7:00 in the morning. A bit early for the pipe and a brew, wouldn't you say?"
"I've already had 4 beers at four different houses, Dick, and I'm hammered. This milk route is killing me!"
This ad tries to fill the viewer with 'gusto' for a massive pint of ale. It's effective - I'm writing this in the morning, and, like the milkman, that amber liquid looks refreshing. It looks much better than it feels to be drinking beer.
Beer is an interesting product - you don't really NEED to advertise it, as people are going to drink it, no matter what you do. Without advertising, it's not like the population would suddenly forget to drink.
At the same time, brands need to market their brew - people will drink beer, but instinctively are drawn to the beer that supports the image that they want to project. For example, Coors Light is the preferred drink of intellectual philosophy professors, while the rich and glamourous chose to drink Milwaukee's Best from crystal mugs.
Vintage beer ads are quite popular among the kitschy beer crowd, transferring their love of all things beer to purchasing strange merchandise to decorate their den. Ned Flanders would be sure to have a few of these up there, augmenting them with draft imported beer.
These posters were found on Sloshspot, which has a collection of 17 classic beer ads, some of them ancient, some of them just old enough to be hilarious.
